a western adventure you will never forget!
The ranches in our river valley in southwestern Montana have
moved their cattle from winter range to the mountain pastures of
the Big Belt Mountains since the 1870's. The cattle drive on which
you will ride is a continuation of that tradition, modified only
by shorter days, better food, great entertainment, and porta potties.
The ranchers who will accompany you on your cattle drive have been
conducting recreational cattle drives every summer since 1992.
One of the primary differences between our cattle drives and
other recreational cattle drives is that our drives are not staged.
These herds of cattle would be making the trip to the mountains
even if we didn't have guests. Another difference is that we also
provide informational programs about modern cattle ranching and
the natural and geological history of Montana. You will also have
the opportunity to learn how to fly fish in one of the nearby trout
streams or to learn to throw a lariat rope.
Once the nightly entertainment programs conclude the guitar
pickers drift in from outside the campfire light and those assembled
join in song. We definitely emphasize quantity over quality. Perhaps
you can help. After the herd is delivered to summer pasture, we
celebrate with an old fashioned barn dance.
If you are looking for western adventure in the Rocky Mountains,
the Montana High Country Cattle Drive may be your ticket to the
experience of a life time. We have attempted to provide you with
all the information you would want to know about our cattle drives
on this website. So we invite you to click on the "info",
"photos" , "Prices/Dates" or other related links
at left or to call or email us for any specific questions. Hope
to see you on the trail next summer!
